Cultural Relevant Resources

We understand the importance of providing current and future educators with resources that will help them create culturally relevant lesson plans. We have divided these resources into four sections: Children Literature, Journal Articles, TEKS Analysis, and a connection to two nonprofit organizations, TABE and IDRA.

Children's Literature

The Children's Literature section provides a list of children books with cultural relevant topics created by leading scholars and authors in the field as well as a collection of award-winning titles with a video presentation from the Literature scholars who presented at the 2019 workshop.

Journal Articles

In the Articles section, future and current educators can find scholarships that support the incorporation of culturally relevant content in education. Educators can also find background information about the benefit of culturally relevant content.

TEKS Analysis

The TEKS section consists of the 2011-2012 and the 2020-2021 TEKS analyses that detail information about cultural relevant TEKS along with data on what social studies content is being taught in elementary schools.

TABE and IDRA

The TABE and the IDRA sections provide information about bilingual academic events that are being worked on by these nonprofit organizations.
