Training in rainSummer Training Opportunities for Contracted Cadets

Basic Airborne Course (BAC)

US Army Airborne School located at Fort Benning, Georgia, is available to cadets who are enrolled in the program. The course is three weeks long, consisting of a ground week, tower week and jump week. With each week comes different types of training designed to teach you how to parachute out of airplanes and helicopters. It is an exciting non-stop course that will push you to the limit. AIRBORNE!!!

Northern Warfare Training

Northern Warfare training is a three week course taught at the Northern Warfare Training Center in Ft. Greely, Alaska. Students are taught basic mountain climbing and mountaineering skills including rock climbing, mountain walking techniques, basic knots, ice climbing, and route selection. The course culminates in a three day field exercise that takes place on Gulkana Glacier. Students learn the importance of trusting their equipment and build confidence in themselves.

NOTE: very physically demanding.

Cadet Troop Leader Training (CTLT) (Conus & OCONUS)

CTLT increases each cadet's leadership experience. Each cadet is assigned to a platoon leader position and given an opportunity to lead soldiers. It familiarizes cadets with the command, training, administration and logistical functions of active duty units. It also exposes cadets to the on-duty and off-duty environment of the junior officer.

Cadet Field Training

Cadet Summer Training provides all four classes with challenging, realistic military training commensurate with their respective level of development. The broader purpose is the inspiration and development of each cadet as a future Army officer. Cadet Basic Training (CBT) transitions incoming civilians to cadets and soldiers, and begins to inculcate the skills and values necessary to develop leaders of character fully committed to military service. Cadet Field Training (CFT) introduces cadets to the close ground fight and the associated challenges of leading soldiers in a tactical environment at the team and squad level. Cadet Leaders Development Training (CLDT) provides opportunities for Cadets to lead platoons, squads, and teams during a tactical scenario while being assessed on their ability to solve complex tactical problems and lead under stress in a field environment.

Mountain Warfare Training (AMWS)

AMWS provides tactical and technical training for mountain warfare and cold weather operations. AMWS courses enable Soldiers to operate successfully using proven techniques derived from lessons learned by units currently engaged in mountain warfare. AMWS is located in the mountains of Jericho, Vermont at Camp Ethan Allen Training Site (CEATS). Graduates of the Basic Military Mountaineer Course (BMMC) earn the SQI-E "Military Mountaineer."

SAPPER

In the U.S. Army, Sappers are combat engineers or other personnel who support the front-line infantry, and they have fought in every war in American history. A sapper may perform any of a variety of combat engineering duties. Such tasks typically include bridge-building, laying or clearing minefields, demolitions, field defenses as well as building, road and airfield construction and repair.

WHINSEC

Each year, 1500 or more military, civilian, and law enforcement personnel attend one or more of our 15 resident courses. These students range in rank from cadets to sergeants to lieutenants and colonels. They come from all branches of the U.S. military and from partner nations throughout the hemisphere. All international students coming to WHINSEC are vetted by the State Department as are all foreign students coming to U.S. government education and training.

La Copa Leadership Training Center (LCLTC)

Each semester the Vaqueros Battalion plans, coordinates, and executes either a Joint or Single Training Exercise designed to capture the diversity of the cadet's diversity and decision making skills. LCLTC provides the resources and facilities to allow this to happen. LCLTC provides a Rappel Tower, Zip Line, Rock Wall, High and Low Confidence courses, Obstacle course, Grenade Assault course, Land Navigation, and a future weapons qualification course all within a single location. Check out the recent video of the facility "La Copa Inspiring Leaders." For more information contact: Mr. Johnny Escamilla at 956-665-3608.

Air Assault School - Not Currently Offered

Air Assault training is available at different Army posts across the country. It is a 12-day course that consists of physical training, sling load training, rappelling and a 12-mile timed road march in full combat gear. This is a tough course that will exhaust you both physically and mentally, but in the long run it will be worth every ounce of energy you put into it!
