About Us

UTRGV Pyschology Clinic buildingThe UTRGV Psychology Clinic provides high quality and affordable psychological services to our community and welcomes clients of all ages. Services are provided by professional licensed psychologists and advanced doctoral trainees. Most of our clinicians are bilingual Spanish-speaking and trained to provide services to a broad range of psychological problems and issues. Our professional psychotherapy services are based on effective research-based treatments for treating mental conditions and psychological problems. In addition, the clinic offers evaluations that are individualized and comprehensive to assess a broad range of emotional and behavioral problems, learning and cognitive disabilities, and DSM5 mental conditions for the purpose of diagnosing and treatment planning.

Our clinic provides professional and confidential psychological services at a reduced cost to individuals in our community by providing bilingual and culturally sensitive mental health care to individuals.

Philosophy

The Psychology clinic philosophy is to offer low-cost services to all individuals in our community, with a specific interest in providing bilingual and culturally sensitive mental health care to individuals of disadvantaged backgrounds.

Mission

The mission of the Psychology Clinic at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is to provide training opportunities for clinical psychology graduate students:
  • To apply empirically supported assessment and treatment techniques in a professional and ethical manner.
  • To provide high-quality, affordable mental health assessment and treatment services to individuals in our community within a culturally sensitive and inclusive environment.
  • And to promote research on psychopathology, clinical assessment techniques and therapeutic interventions.
