Program Overview
The Bachelor’s degree in Art (with EC-12 Teacher Certification) trains students to become certified art teachers skilled in relevant studio techniques, artist processes, art curriculum design, and classroom strategies. The EC-12 program produces practicing artists who are trained to teach in a variety of settings including K-12, community arts, galleries, and museums. UTRGV is approved by the Texas Education Agency to recommend students who complete all requirements of this degree for teaching certification.

Art educators inspire students in the classroom and beyond. By fostering students’ creativity and curiosity about the visual arts, they encourage their students’ artistic growth.

The campus is well equipped to provide excellent service and education. Its professors are always there to offer students help in the careers we are interested in, and they provide sufficient organization that can help us grow into better leaders.

A career in art education seems logical for me because it can help me combine my passion for art and my passion to empower others to grow in their ability and confidence.
