About Us
The Privacy Office is responsible for issues related to privacy practices, policies, concerns, and complaints. We also act as a resource for students, staff, and patients. We do this by partnering with students, staff, and faculty members in doing the right thing, the right way, all the time.
Our Mission
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s (UTRGV) mission is to transform the Rio Grande Valley, the Americas, and the world through an innovative and accessible educational environment that promotes student success, research, creative works, health and well-being, community engagement, and sustainable development. In furtherance of this mission, The Privacy Office at UTRGV is committed to the protection of, and legal and ethical use of personally identifiable information collected from and about members of the UTRGV Community including but not limited to: faculty, staff, current and prospective students, affiliated entities, alumni, benefactors, customers, advisors, contractors, business partners, research subjects and others who have provided information to the University. The responsible and ethical use and protection of information requires that members of the UTRGV community respect individual privacy, ensure confidentiality, safeguard the integrity and availability of University’s information resources and comply fully with all applicable laws, administrative regulations and regulatory guidance. UTRGV strives to be a leader in best privacy practices and privacy policy. To further this goal, the Privacy Office assigns a high priority to privacy considerations in all systems, programs, and policies.
