How to Participate
NovaRhet can’t happen without the involvement of our wonderful UTRGV community and we truly appreciate everyone who has been part of this event over the years. If you want to be one of those people, please continue reading to find out how you can get involved within your current role here at our beloved university.
ENGL 1302 Students
Your research is amazing and deserves to be showcased. If your professor has not mentioned it already, ask if you can prepare the research you’re doing in your ENGL 1302 course to be presented at our live event during Week 13 of the Spring semester of every academic year. If approved, you will submit your abstract to the official NovaRhet submission area and await acceptance from the NovaRhet team. Once accepted, you can prepare your work to be showcased at our event in a format of your choosing.
Faculty with the First Year Writing Program and Beyond
As NovaRhet continues to grow, we are always looking for faculty support in various capacities. We would love to see you involved in one or more of the following ways:
- If you teach ENGL 1302 classes during the Spring semester, encourage students to submit their work to the event.
- If you teach ENGL 1301 classes during the Spring semester, bring your students by to be audience members for presenters or offer extra credit for attendance on their own.
- If you teach ENGL 1302 during other semesters, encourage students to submit their videos to our film festival which will be aired at the event the following Spring semester.
- If you teach other classes, encourage your students to attend the event.
- We would also love your help in making sure the event runs smoothly by volunteering your time to welcome and direct students to appropriate places, pass out prizes, visit student works, make popcorn, etc.
UTRGV Librarians
We have created a wonderful partnership with the UTRGV Library in an effort to better support student research endeavors. We would love to have any and all librarians continue to be involved in hosting workshops to help students prep their work and/or host panels or discussions at NovaRhet if time and schedules permit. We would also just love your presence at the event to witness student work.
