  Community, Alumni

By Amanda Alaniz

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS – UTRGV has partnered with the Career Leadership Collective, a higher education solutions group, to conduct a national online survey of alumni that will collect data about their career pathways.

The National Alumni Career Mobility Survey (NACM) will be open from November to December, seeking career satisfaction and other insights from UTRGV alumni who completed bachelor’s or master’s degrees in calendar years 2016-2019.

UTRGV Alumni Relations Executive Director Marisa Campirano said the survey’s data will benefit UTRGV as the 5-year-old university continues to grow.

“This opportunity will also allow us to better support our UTRGV alumni with programing better tailored to assist them in their career growth needs,” she said.

Dr. Jonikka Charlton, associate provost of Student Success at UTRGV and dean of the University College, said the data would give UTRGV the chance to learn about the constructive experience alumni had while they were working on their degrees.

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to learn more about where our alumni's career paths have taken them, and what experiences they had while at UTRGV that best prepared them for success in their career,” she said.

“This information will be invaluable for our faculty and staff as we work to ensure that we are giving all UTRGV students opportunities to engage in the kinds of activities that will launch them on a path to meaningful, rewarding professional careers.”

All data collected by the survey will be used to help the institution better understand the professional pathways of graduates and prepare future alumni for continued and improved career success.

Any 2016 to 2019 graduate is asked to fill out the survey here: http://bit.ly/UTRGVNACM2020

ABOUT UTRGV

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 as the first major public university of the 21st century in Texas. This transformative initiative provided the opportunity to expand educational opportunities in the Rio Grande Valley, including a new School of Medicine, and made it possible for residents of the region to benefit from the Permanent University Fund – a public endowment contributing support to the University of Texas System and other institutions.

UTRGV has campuses and off-campus research and teaching sites throughout the Rio Grande Valley including in Boca Chica Beach, Brownsville (formerly The University of Texas at Brownsville campus), Edinburg (formerly The University of Texas-Pan American campus), Harlingen, McAllen, Port Isabel, Rio Grande City, and South Padre Island. UTRGV, a comprehensive academic institution, enrolled its first class in the fall of 2015, and the School of Medicine welcomed its first class in the summer of 2016.
