How can you get involved?
Fill Out Tags
The core of the Hostile Terrain 94 exhibit is a wall depicting a portion of the US-Mexico border, with georeferenced toe tags marking the location where migrants lost their lives. Local participants engage with the exhibit by filling out the information on these tags prior to the installation of the exhibit. Each wall displays approximately 3400 tags. For UTRGV's two installations that means we need to fill out ~6800 tags.
If you would like to organize a group to fill out tags, please contact us. A member of our local team can visit your class, club, or community organization to describe the project and guide participants in filling out the tags. All materials and information will be provided.
Be A Project Affiliate
Project Affiliates are those who support the project beyond filling out tags. If you are interested in presenting during a speaker series or contributing to local content to augment the exhibit, this category is for you! Are you a community organization that works on issues of immigration? Are you a researcher who studies immigration policy or the US-Mexico border? Are you a student organization who would like to plan events in coordination with the Hostile Terrain 94 exhibit? Are you a professor interested in adding a service learning component to your course? All of these are examples of Project Affiliate activities.
Join the Planning Committe
The Planning Committee is the core group who will coordinate Project Affiliates and groups interested in filling out tags, and help guide the scope and vision of the project.
