OnCall International Health Insurance and Assistance

All UTRGV students on international education experiences are covered by On Call for health insurance and emergency assistance.

To register your trip with On Call, simply forward your flight itinerary confirmation email to trips@oncallinternational.com. Please note the following:

  • If you are not using your .edu email address to send the email, ensure you include that you are with UTRGV in the email
  • If you know where you are staying, you can include the full address of your accommodations in the email along with your flight. As an alternative, you can include the address of where you’ll be spending most of your time.
  • Include your US mobile phone number
  • If your flight is purchased through iTravel or CTP (Collegiate Travel Planners), please note that you will be automatically enrolled in On Call.

When On Call receives your trip information, it will be entered in their Travel Monitoring platform, which is powered by Crisis24 Horizon:

  • You will receive a pre-travel notification email with resources for staying healthy and safe during your trip.
  • You may receive critical incident alerts via email for your destination shortly before your departure and while you are traveling, should any be issued.
  • You will be registered to use the Horizon app.  To download and optimize usage of the app, visit the Horizon Mobile App Guide and login using your UTRGV email.

Emails alerts will be sent from OCIalerts@alerts.oncallinternational.com. We recommend designating this domain as a Safe Sender in your email settings.

  • On Call Plan ID Card
  • Student International Travel Accident and Sickness Policy

While traveling…

You can make a collect call, send an email, live chat or text On Call from anywhere in the world 24 hours day to request assistance. If you need medical care, encounter a travel problem, suffer a medical emergency, or are impacted by security crisis anywhere in the world, we strongly encourage you to take advantage of services available through On Call.

If there is a critical incident alert issued for your reported location, if it is a high or extreme risk then certain contacts at the institution will also be automatically notified.  Dependent upon the nature of the incident, you may receive a text, email, and/or a notification from the App (if you’ve configured it), with a communication requesting for you to check in and acknowledge whether you are safe or require assistance. These messages are generated by the institution or the On Call International Global Security Team. It is important to acknowledge the message as soon as possible so we can prioritize where help is needed and coordinate a quick and efficient response.
