Dr. Teresa Feria Arroyo’s research interests focus on Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Species Distribution Modeling (SDM) methods applied to live organism distributions, both present and future. Both undergraduate and graduate students in her lab have participated as co- authors in scientific publications and presented their findings in local, regional, state, and national scientific conferences. The students she mentors have joined the workforce or continued with their graduate studies in these areas. She received the Provost’s International Studies Award (2011) followed by the Excellence in Teaching Award from the College of Science and Mathematics (2012). She received the USDA Kika de la Garza Science Fellowship in 2013. She also received the Outstanding International Faculty Female at UTRGV, the Excellence Award in Community Engagement at the College level and University levels and was selected as Fred W. and Frances H. Rusteberg Endowed Professor in 2018. She has served in multiple committees at Biology Department, College of Science, UTRGV and professional organizations. She served as the Chair of the Women’s Faculty Network during the academic year of 2018-2019. She served as an International Fellow from the Division of Research, Graduate Studies and New Programs and the Associate Dean for Faculty Success at the College of Science. In 2020 she obtained the prestigious UT System Regent’s Outstanding Teaching Award. In spring of 2021 she was selected as a member of the Faculty Success and Diversity Council at UTRGV.
