Artist Statement

personal logoI have started my art journey for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a child, I have always loved drawing, thus my love of the arts has been a huge pillar for my entire life. As someone in the art, I want to be what one considers a jack-of-all-trades, as I love to learn and try many new mediums to further my career as an artist – which also resulted in me pursuing a degree in the graphic arts.

The best aspect of art is how fluid and creative one can be when creating. They do not have to be restrained by any sort of rules that exist in real life, such as anatomical correctness or physical laws. Artists, I feel, do their best work when they can be more experimental and playful with their ideas, rather than a rigid and inflexible approach towards their works. My work is a physical representation of my mind, bringing out the child-like imagination within me and my ability to experiment with concepts that others would have never thought of, presenting a new way for others to be able to interpret the world around them. I think of my work as a view into a modern approach to art, as well as showing how art does not have to need a complex story or meaning to be validated by those who think otherwise. Many might oppose this style of practice as they feel my work has no meaning; but I believe that just because it doesn't change anything about the world doesn't mean it has no purpose. With these intentions in mind, I strive to create work that encourages others to explore and play around with ideas concerning the world around them - or to even invent new concepts - and that they are not restricted to a strict or linear way of thinking.

How I work is that I do whatever comes to mind, as well as make many variations of something in numerous styles and see what lands. It may be an unorthodox style of working but I usually see that it works best with me, as I am someone who wants things done quickly. If I do run into a problem, I am not afraid to ask others how I can improve or change something.
