Coffee culture has always fascinated me, and my love for coffee led me to explore it more deeply. In doing so, I discovered not just the craft, but a thriving community -particularly within the RGV coffee scene- made up of independent cafés and small-batch roasteries. My inspiration for this event came from a Coffee Crawl I attended in 2021. Experiencing the way independent coffee shops connected with the public and showcased their craft sparked my desire to create something similar -an event that not only celebrates coffee but also highlights local artistry. As both an artist and barista myself, I set out to design promotional materials and branding for a space where independent cafés and roasteries could engage with coffee lovers while also providing a platform for local artists to showcase and sell their work, fostering a deeper appreciation for both craftsmanship and community.

For Coffee Walk, I wanted to create designs that embody the spirit of community and the idea of uplifting one another as artisans. Beyond promotional materials, I sought to design merchandise that serves as a meaningful keepsake for attendees -something they can carry forward as a shared connection with others who experienced the event, reinforcing a sense of belonging within the Coffee Walk community. Some of the merchandise I designed are T-shirts, stickers and tote bags. These items are made for either the amateur coffee-making lover or the veteran barista. This message is further emphasized through additional merchandise such as aprons, latte cups, and milk frothing pitchers which are the everyday tools that coffee lovers use. To achieve these goals, I used illustration to reflect the artisanal craft that is central to the project’s theme. Paired with carefully chosen typography and color scheme, the design creates a visual language that balances warmth, craftsmanship, and community -capturing the essence of Coffee Walk as both an inviting experience and a celebration of local artistry.
