Exhibit Work

I have always loved ballet, ever since I was young. I had always fixated on the very concept of ballet and its various interpretations; all ranging from your typical recitals to picture books, posters, Barbie films and cartoons. I was never really able to pursue ballet despite the constant love and fixation I had for it, as our financial situation during my upbringing wasn’t always ideal. I am now an adult, and yet the love and fixation I once felt for ballet remains despite never once actively pursuing it. I wanted to incorporate that same love and respect for ballet I had as a child to this exhibition, and combine it with the newfound elements I’ve come to like as I’ve grown older—this is where the Nouveau art style comes into play, as I believe the two would go hand in hand wonderfully given the style’s ties to theater and commercial advertisements. Along with its overall beautiful and elegant atmosphere and visuals.
Now, why Saccharo, why chocolate you may ask? It’s simple, much like in my artist statement I mention how I tie it all back to the child I was once, to everything I wished I could’ve liked wholeheartedly without shame or limitations, and how I wish for things I make to serve as a love letter, this is no different from that; besides, what child doesn’t enjoy chocolate. I believe this is something most can agree with, the universal love for chocolate, not just a child holds—but everyone possesses. Its uses all ranging and yet still tasting all that sweet and comforting: a tasty treat, a reward, a gift for friends, for lovers, and for family, a pick-me-up at times of need, a tradition, a culture, and at times even a luxury. I hope to bring a little bit of all that, however big or small it may-be, to you. All whilst presenting a combination of things I enjoy all at once. I believe everyone deserves a tasty treat, so I wish to grant you that—a tasty treat, if you’d allow me to.
