Demonkio is a brand that focuses on the punk ambiance of vinyl figures by demonstrating fun pieces of scarcely seen characters or ideas. Demonkio encourages its audience to go against the norm and demonstrates to you a different view of everyday life with oddities and style. This brand expands to the creation of merchandise of statements and artistic imagery of the “punk” or “revel” lifestyle. We focused on the creation of fun pieces that are not meant to be profound or serious in any way. Their purpose is to create excitement, new perspectives, for you to connect with on a surface or even a deeper level, and hopefully a comment of “That looks cool!”.
The name Demonkio surged from the combination of several words like Demo, which means to demonstrate. Demon, which are evil entities that are said to be able to possess people. And lastly mon, which is yours truly's name. I felt like this name really suited this project as it fits the characteristics of its essence and mine. I really didn't want this project to stop at illustrations or ideas, which is why the questions surged, what if they were actually real? Leading me to the conclusion that vinyl figures would be an awesome route of demonstration of these cool character ideas, which also allowed me to immortalize my concepts. This way the audience could further see and feel like they are actually seeing a legit product that could possibly be part of their lives. The main piece of this exhibit would be the punk baby head, this idea has been forever stuck in my head but the idea of it just being a mere illustration was not fulfilling enough for me, it had to be real. This piece is a full representation of who I am and how I see myself, which is a kid who just happens and wishes to stand out and wants to be loud. The whole concept of Demonkio is of not being scared and being whoever you want to be and allowing yourself to be loud and fun, and especially a little punk.
