personal logoAlright let’s do this one last time, my name is Josue Martinez and for the last 3 years, I’ve been in the Graphic Design program where my animation skills have improved. Ever since I was young, I would always create characters with their own stories hoping to one day see them on the big screens. One day I started to do my flip-page animations and I came to the realization that I wanted to be an animator. Stop motion, digital animation, I realized I could do it. I could make a cartoon with a unique style of colors, humor, and storytelling.

When I entered my first class in 2021, I wasn’t sure what to expect, there were new subjects and new people, and there was only one goal in mind, to get that diploma. What I want is to expand my knowledge of animations and learn to design products for my potential business. With each class, I moved closer to my goal. I started my digital animations with basic movements and rough drafts. It was nothing professional but the more I practiced the more I improved. I will admit it is no easy fit being an animator, it can be tiresome and boring at times, but I know that it will be rewarding. Seeing my complete animations is one of the most satisfying and happiest moments for me.

With the finish line closing in, I am glad I was able to find work in something I love. I know my younger self would be proud of the road I took. I hope this exhibition will allow me to show you my work and I will do my best to make it to the big screens one day.
