Artist Statement

personal logoMy mom instilled my love for art since birth. She would sew and craft making decorations for the holidays or just a handmade gift for friends and family. Saved any scrap material for me and encouraged the freedom to go wild with them. In school, I was also blessed with more amazing teachers or people who let me use my creativity in anything. Projects had to look visually appealing for me to submit them. I was surround by people who also had that spark to just create in any way or medium they could. I have a deep love for creating with traditional mediums but digital design has a different freedom. Getting an ipad opened doors for me to different possibilities and more colors.

Colors are everything to me. Well, colors and combinting traditional with digital mediums. My art style runs between graphic shapes and illustrations. I use colorful palettes to lighten the mood. Most referencing back to my Hispanic roots of rich colors: specifically the traditional charro dresses, the vibrant fruits, and papel picado. Colors in any combination can create a special type of feeling or emotion. Isnt that cool how something so simple can bring such power with it? Any one can enjoy a colorful piece of work. I think art can look pretty for the sake of it, no intellectual thought to enjoy it.

Everyone has a different view and approach to creating. Mines is combing. Whether it be with a good color palette, mediums, or ideas. I love looking and referencing other artist art, whether they’re renowned, an online niche artist, or just a classmate. Honestly, they all inspire me to just make cool things. I love learning and seeing their creatives practicies. Picking and taking parts for myself to use in my own ways.
