Artist Statement
My Name is Joshua Hernandez I’ve started to get involved with art in middle school taking a drawing class. When reaching high school I have taken drawing again is when I was in my junior year of high school I have seen graphic design as an newly add elective so I took it and was my step into graphic design learning adobe Photoshop. This was the started pursuing into a graphic design career after high school I went to TSTC to start my degree in graphic design.
I have chosen graphic design to create work that would be seen by the world and hopefully can be remembered for many years. Seeing it as a career path I saw how important it can be by making a voice heard for what they stand for and influence of consumerism of society that can be seen though branding which will always be a need for because of innovation. With newly created products and services will never be pushed into the public without a branding identity and new ways to show its message that conveys a call to action, product, and or service. My goal as a graphic designer is to impact society with my work to be see and be inspiring, take action, inform people, and bring some kind of happiness. If I can at least give someone to feel one of these things will make my work doing.
As I start any project I start with a mood board to get inspired for my work. When the mood board is done I would create the sketches to have the basic frame of my designs that has the potential to start with. Then start the digital mockups for them out of them one will be the final but with revisions after this would be the final revision to become the final design. As I work silence would be very distracting to me so I like background noise like Soothing sounds or a movie playing in the background. When I run into a problem during my design I would take a small break and then look for more inspiration to help with the problem in the design that needs fixing. Ether looking at images or creating a new mood board forced on the final design and would ask others and listen to what they think to improve it.
