Pincel
The idea for Pincel came from the struggle of finding the motivation and inspiration as an artist to get up and create work. Pincel is the Spanish word for paintbrush, another symbol for the artist’s tool. My biggest struggle as an artist is to find the motivation to get out of bed and come up with ideas in the first place. When deciding what to do for this exhibit, I was blanked on what topic I wanted to discuss. I decided that I would use this problem as my motivation and touch on the very real problem of burnout. My work can also be seen as a light-hearted criticism on capitalism, as the solution for a large scale mental health issue is a canned product, ready for purchase.
