Designer Statement
RATES (Research, Applied Technology, Education, and Service is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit formed to promote and coordinate the collaborative and cooperative use of technology. Despite their incredible research and services offered, the company is looking to expand their community engagement and social media presence. As a visual communicator, I want to break the barriers between the scientific and creative industries to connect with our community.
The idea with this project is to create an infographic poster that includes detailed information about the RATES' designed Real-Time Hydrological System Stations. As visual communicators, we work as a bridge between the concept and the target audience, in my case, I am breaking down the information while keeping the meaning and relevancy of the information intact.
This poster plays with the visual aspect of a technical blueprint to showcase the technical specifications of the RTHS Stations. I wanted to highlight the main components of the stations without making the design overwhelming and too technical, and the blueprint designed allowed me to do so. The deep blue background continues with the color palette from the first poster, and the green is also part of the official branding color palette.
With this poster, we aim to highlight the importance of welcoming visual communicators and creative minds into the scientific research communities. It is imperative for creatives to tap into an interdisciplinary approach for the arts. During my formative years in college, I was able to strengthen my abilities as visual communicator with a focus on creating compelling infographics. Part of my focus on the visual arts includes the creation of engaging, educational, and user-friendly content. In my short experience as a professional, I have been able to create content with the characteristics above, and it has been an incredible learning experience.
