My senior exhibition “Design is Human / The Human Touch” explores the tension between technology and humanity in the design field. Businesses rely on AI to produce many artificial designs and I wanted to challenge this growing dependency by reminding audiences that design is not just about output, but it is about lived experiences. I want to highlight depth, imperfection, and vulnerability that human creators bring to their work that AI can’t replicate. In my campaign, my exhibition will be satirical and I will be using branding tactics to “sell” unmarketable human experiences like mental health, growth, feminism, and unspoken struggles. These are only stories humans can tell and they are central to why design remains human at its core.

The core idea of my project is that design is a vessel for humanity. It thrives of imperfection, struggle, and authenticity, on which AI cannot replace. I will explore this route by using consumer branding while centering overlooked human truths. I will refine my work by balancing minimal modern aesthetics with raw, organic elements that emphasize authenticity. For the audience, this will function both as a critique and an invitation of the normalcy of AI in design while reflecting on what makes human creativity irreplaceable. This will help challenge the viewers and realize that maybe AI may be too much and help them defend design as a deeply human act of communication.

Overall, this work would reflect on my professional practice as a designer who values clarity, order, and artistic structure, but who is not afraid to lean into complexity and imperfection. It supports my saying of creating order within chaos artistically while keeping the design grounded in human connection. Looking forward, this project will open doors to future projects that fuse creative story telling with social awareness, using design not only as a service but as a platform for meaningful dialogue.
