Exhibit Work

The idea for my exhibit was to mainly blend graphic design with photography, and create a business that felt both professional and inviting. I decided to have the exhibit be about a photography studio that offers photoshoots and also prints pictures both old and new. Initially, I wanted this studio to look very bright and colorful, starting with a white backdrop with pictures that showed a vibrant setting. I also had a few different ideas for the poster, including placing all of the pictures inside polaroids, setting them, along with a family picture frame and a camera, against a tabletop. Admittedly, this idea didn’t exactly reflect how I wanted this business to look, presenting a more hand-crafted feel than that of a professional studio. Using polaroids to represent the pictures also wouldn't have made sense as my focus was more on high quality prints. So I reevaluated the design of both my poster and brochure. The pictures are now shown inside rows of film negatives, with a close up of a camera lens placed in the foreground of the poster. I also made the background completely black so that the overall design would be less busy, and to give the studio a more sophisticated look. The result is hopefully something that reflects the ideas I tried to invoke, showing a professional environment with a vibrant body of work. The following paragraph details the business itself and what they do.

Lumiere is a photography studio that schedules portrait shoots for families, couples, and anyone else who is interested. Any occasion such as birthdays, anniversaries or pregnancies can be captured with the utmost care at our studio, and anyone wanting a group photo or a single portrait would also be welcomed. We also print our pictures in a variety of sizes and complete with a collection of frames you can choose from. We are also able to print pictures taken from you. Whether you're an aspiring photographer or just want an old family picture framed, we will make a copy in the best quality possible, and will work with you to make sure that it's delivered exactly the way you envisioned. On top of offering more services than the average studio, we also give internships/apprenticeships to aspiring photographers, helping them learn more about printing and how they can approach their own business moving forward.
