Exhibit Work
For my project, I wanted to do something with music. I have always loved music and felt like it is a wonderful medium to connect people together. I believe one of the best examples of this is concerts. Concerts are a great way to have music lovers and like-minded people in one place. I have had this idea ever since I first saw a small indie band perform live at a small concert. Hence, I decided to focus my project around a music venue and bar. The Bridge is meant to be a welcoming and social place in which anyone can come and enjoy live music from local indie bands. This also provides an opportunity for these bands to gain more exposure and growth. Although there are multiple bars that host live performances from time to time, this isn’t a random bar that hired a band to play, it is a place where the music takes center stage.
My poster is an advertisement for an upcoming concert featuring multiple bands. I designed my poster around a grunge aesthetic as I want my venue to have a cool, underground atmosphere. I also wanted to make it loud, so I made use of a dark background with popping accent colors to really capture people’s attention. Having a large guitar and amplifier be present also gives the audience an idea that the poster is related to music in some fashion before even reading the text. Overall, my poster is meant to make people say, “Wow this place must have style,” and have people come by not wanting to leave.
