Artist Statement
My fascination with creating had always manifested itself in its own subliminal ways. Ever since childhood, I always had an interest in making new things out of existing things. Throughout adolescence, I learned how to really grasp technological concepts, and I began to appreciate the beauty of data and how I could manipulate the appearance of data on a computer screen to increase its accessibility.
I aim to create beautifully crafted experiences that immerse the viewer in a breadth of pure knowledge. My personal goal is to always be at the intersection of data-rich, beautiful, legible and accessible. Data should not be withheld from the general public by monoliths that do not value the beauty of the collective. It is within my aspirations to create a simple, yet complete aesthetic. Visual Communications and the systematic methods we employ to ensure successful products take time to master, and I am always learning from the new and cutting-edge contributions fellow designers make. Much like programming, a hobby of mine, I like to approach problems by creating comprehensive solutions that can be trimmed down to suit a project’s needs. I also appreciate the spirit of self that drives art. I am not afraid to admit that I do let emotions get the best of me, and sometimes I let emotions drive my work. I am simply human and I appreciate the imprint that artists are able to leave on the human race. I hope that I can leave an imprint of my own for everyone, for future generations, past generations and those that are not able to leave an imprint of their own.
Making and creating are incredibly technical. I do believe this is what drew me to this profession. Being able to create from nothing is a skill, but it is also fueled by an incessant desire to do better, to create new from old or to create from nothing at all. I love my work, I love my place in the world, and I love this job. Through my work, I hope to make the world a better place by creating, by making and by simplifying some of life’s most complex lessons and experiences.
