Artist Statement

personal logoArt has been one of the biggest things in my life, it’s always been present. Since I was little I’ve always enjoyed drawing and always wanted to perfect my skills, I would often ask my mom to teach me because she had also studied art in college and had a lot of knowledge. Every drawing of mine would turn out great but most of the times I wouldn’t be satisfied, I could never get the small details 100% right. Fast forward to today, my main goal is still to get better, improve, and pay attention to the little details because in my opinion, that is what completes a design and makes it look professional.

My interest for graphic design began in my senior year of high school. I didn’t know what was graphic design at the time, I just knew that it was an art class so I got in. The first project was to create a logo for a company, I was playing around and quickly sketching without thinking when the teacher came up to me told me that she really liked my designs, that’s the moment when I really thought about and considered getting into this career path. If the teacher liked my designs when I wasn’t trying, what would she think when she sees something that I thought through and invested time in? So that’s what I did. My work was always one of the best in the class, the teacher often complemented my work, and I was having a lot of fun.

First semester in college came and halfway though I decided to change my major from engineering to graphic design, I was very nervous at first and wasn’t feeling to sure about my decision. In second semester I had my first graphic design class and once again, my work was one of the favorites in the class. Class after class I kept doing great and learning a lot along the way, and after winning several awards, it’s more that clear I chose the right path. With every assingment and project my aim has been to deliver the best I can, to create designs that people would find interesting, to make designs appealing, effective, and informational, to pay attention to every minute detail so the project can be the best it can be, but most importantly, to satisfy and make myself proud because if I’m not, something is not right.
