Exhibit Work

My work has always consisted of bringing new ideas into life through a visual medium. I work to push the edge on what i s considered to be visually appealing or profound. I think comics are one of the most influential ways that the younger generations began to develop knowledge and culture. Before we had netflix and social media platforms as well as TV to entertain ourselves with animated shows or cartoons, comics were the most popular method of expression of visual storytelling. Comics could arguably be the most basic and direct form of storytelling, as we began to paint images of the world on caves before modern technology. I decided to design an identity for a comic book publishing company. My work for the exhibit is heavily inspired by all the graphic novels I have read in my life as well as some animated films that stuck with me as I grew up. I wrote a one-shot that aims to somehow express my perspective on reality, and I’d love for people to see how my art style can project my voice onto the reader’s own model of what they are experiencing through my characters and stories. My logo and advertising for the comic book is coherent with what I find the most appealing about psychedelic comics in the 60’s as well as the influence Japan has on comics and graphic design. My work for this exhibit aims to marry elements from diferent styles of illustration as well as designing to bring my stories to life and hopefully start to write comics for companies and individual projects. I chose to write a graphic novel for this exhibit because I think comics are of the most tedious forms of art, they bring the most satisfaction and influence to artists and readers alike.
