⮞Child Development Center
Shaping young minds for a lifetime of success is the core goal of the Child Development Center (CDC) while also providing quality child-care services to university students and employees to help them balance work, school and family.
The CDC provides children, from ages 3 months to 5 years old, a variety of diverse and creative learning opportunities in a caring and nurturing environment. We also focus on the whole child, taking into account all your child’s developmental needs – physical, social, emotional and cognitive.
At the CDC, we:
- Offer full-time care between the hours of Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Provide children with breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack.
- Implement the Frog Street Infant and Toddler Curriculum and the Big Day Scholastic Program, which focuses on the development needs of the children and new concepts and skills in early literacy, math and science.
- Help Pell-eligible, low-income student-parents pay for child-care services thanks to a U.S. Department of Education Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Grant.
- CCAMPIS provides "Free Child Care" for those individuals that are:
- Registered full-time (must be a full-time student for the entire semester.)
- Pell-eligible.

The UTRGV Counseling Center recognizes that current times come with their own set of life changes, stressors, and potential added challenges to accessing resources for your overall emotional wellbeing. We are here to assist. Below are support resources we offer for your mental health, coping ability, general adjustment, and overall wellness.
Telemental health counseling Secure and confidential online individual, couples, and group therapy is available. Tele-health mental health counseling sessions are held over UTRGV's secure Microsoft TEAMS platform.

Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP): The CRP hosts online support groups and other programs to assist students in the process of recovery from addictions. BASICS and CASICS are judgement-free programs designed to assist students in learning more about their use of alcohol or marijuana.

Living on campus is a significant part of the UTRGV Vaquero experience. The residential program is designed to support student success. ⮞Office for Advocacy and Violence Prevention
The Office for Advocacy & Violence Prevention (OAVP) provides free and confidential advocacy, counseling, and educational services to currently enrolled UTRGV students, staff, and faculty. Individual counseling with a mental health professional is available free of charge to all UTRGV students.

⮞Parking Services
UTRGV maintains an inventory of almost 11,000 parking spaces distributed across its various campuses. Parking is regulated through a system of permits and citations. Students, faculty, and staff are expected to obtain a permit for use on campus and park in their respective zones. Visitors are expected to obtain temporary permits for use during their visit.
Parking permits are available for purchase at www.utrgv.edu/myparking.
Students have the option of purchasing semester or evening permits at a reduced rate if they do not need an annual parking permit. Pay stations for short-term parking will also be available for students and employees to use.

Student Accessibility Services (SAS) is committed to assisting students with disabilities obtain academic accommodations in an environment with equal access to the many excellent programs and activities offered by The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. SAS services include evaluating disability documentation, arranging academic accommodations and providing consultation to students with disabilities, including those with temporary disabilities (e.g., mobility limitations and transient but severe illnesses). SAS also provides services to students who are seeking accommodations related to pregnancy and parenting (the period immediate post-partum).

Parking and Transportation Services offers convenient and free transportation to connect students to class, work, or other activities. Vaquero Express is a bus service open to the general public that connects the Brownsville, Edinburg, Harlingen, and Weslaco campuses. VOLT operates within the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses. For bus service outside of UTRGV, Valley Metro and B Metro operate transit routes FREE to students, faculty, and staff in Brownsville and throughout the Rio Grande Valley upon presentation of a valid UTRGV ID card. ⮞University Recreation (UREC)
University Recreation operates on both the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses. Please note the updated protocols and service hours. UREC works closely with Texas Southmost College in terms of the recreation center and offerings; however, the policies within the Brownsville Recreation Center reflect TSC.
What can you expect?
Edinburg
- All regular, and pre-COVID entrance policies are still applicable (ie., Appropriate athletic attire, UTRGV ID needed upon entry into the facility, etc.)
- Patrons are asked to wipe down machines and gear; however, UREC will continue cleaning hourly, and sanitizing twice a day. This cleaning and sanitization do not require UREC to close the facility as this time.
Brownsville

UTRGV's Writing Center is dedicated to empowering our students through their writing. Our team of peer tutors consists of UTRGV students from different disciplines, who are trained to provide free and accessible writing tutoring (face-to-face or online, synchronously and asynchronously) to all UTRGV undergraduate and graduate students and alumni. Tutors are available to help students implement revision strategies for a variety of writing related concerns including content, structure, organization, effective use of reliable sources, and citation formatting.

ID Card Office is available to serve you in-persona and remotely.
Contactless service is provided using our V OneCard GET portal. You can submit a request for your official University issued identification card (known as V OneCard) using our Online ID Request Process (click here for a step-by-step instruction guide). The GET portal allows you to upload your photo ID, an ID card will be printed remotely and mailed to your home address. Super easy and no waiting in lines!
