Daily Self-Screening/Reporting Process
Self-Screening
Each day, prior to visiting any UTRGV campus/off-campus facilities, all University students and employees must review the current version of the COVID-19 Daily Self-Screening questions (below) regarding symptoms related to COVID-19.
COVID-19 Daily Self-Screening questions
- Have you been in close contact (within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period)?
- Do you have a measured temperature greater than 100.0°F, or feelings of fever or chills?
- Do you have a sore throat, hoarse voice, new or worsening cough, nasal congestion, runny nose, headache, muscle aches, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, nausea, vomiting, loss of taste and/or smell, or diarrhea?
Reporting
- If you answer YES to any of the questions listed or have previously tested for COVID-19, utilize the CDC's guidance for Quarantine and Isolation to determine what to do next.
- Contact your primary care physician or reach out to Student Health or Employee Health Services for care and guidance, especially if you have a specific health concern.
In all cases, it is your responsibility to communicate with your supervisors or instructors as soon as possible should the situation impact your ability to fulfill work or academic duties.
Students should also seek guidance from their instructors on how to successfully complete coursework if quarantine, isolation, or illness causes absences. Faculty and supervisors are advised to be flexible with their students and employees and provide support, as needed.
Please Be Aware:
While UTRGV cannot require you to share your COVID-19 status with your peers, instructors, or supervisors, doing so — especially with those who were potentially exposed — is considered best practice.
