- An acknowledgment that the institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used the applicable amount of funds designated under the CRRSAA and ARP(a)(1) and (a)(4) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
UTRGV signed and returned the first Certification and Agreement under the CARES Act (link below). Subsequent grant award notifications for the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), Pub. L. 116-260, and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, Pub. L. 117-2, state that by drawing down grant funds, UTRGV agreed to be bound by each grant’s specific conditions. See links below. UTRGV intends to use the applicable amount of funds designated under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

- The total amount of funds that the institution will receive or has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.
UTRGV has received $17,167,129 from CRRSAA and $51,147,324.00 from ARP for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

As of March 31, 2021, the total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to UTRGV students under the CRRSAA and ARP(a)(1) and (a)(4) programs is $1,911,500.
From April 01 - June 30, 2021, the total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to UTRGV students under the CRRSAA and ARP(a)(1) and (a)(4) programs is $6,873,683.44.
- The estimated total number of students at the institution that are eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.
There are an estimated 28,483 students at UTRGV who are eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.
- The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.
As of March 31, 2021, 7,646 unduplicated students received Spring 2021 Emergency Financial Aid Grants.
From April 01 – June 30, 2021, 13,835 unduplicated students received Emergency Financial Aid Grants.
- The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.
Spring 2021 HEERF II Grant: In accordance with U.S. Department of Education guidance, UTRGV identified eligible students with exceptional need, defined as students with zero expected family contribution (EFC), as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and invited those students to submit an application/authorization for the Spring 2021 HEERF II Grant. Students were sent notification of grant eligibility along with an application/authorization link via their UTRGV email address. Students were given the option to voluntarily authorize application of grant funds to an outstanding account balance if they had one. Eligible students with a completed Spring 2021 HEERF II Grant application/authorization were awarded $250.
Summer 2021 HEERF II Grant: In accordance with U.S. Department of Education guidance, UTRGV identified and prioritized eligible students with exceptional need and invited those students to submit an application/authorization for the Summer 2021 HEERF II Grant. Students were sent notification of grant eligibility along with an application/authorization link via their UTRGV email address. Students were given the option to voluntarily authorize application of grant funds to an outstanding account balance if they had one. After students with exceptional need were provided the opportunity to submit the application/authorization, students with EFC of $1 or greater, or no EFC (no FAFSA), were subsequently invited to follow the same process. Eligible students with a completed Summer 2021 HEERF II Grant application/authorization, were awarded $500.

CARES Act Funds:
UTRGV continues to implement programs directly benefitting students who have been impacted by disruption to campus operations due to the coronavirus. These programs are funded with both CARES Act funds from the U.S. Department of Education and UTRGV institutional funds, and of the programs’ total costs, no less than $17,169,129 of CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF) will be expended on eligible students through direct grants.
