Innovations in Teaching 2022 Conference: “Sharing Ideas, Inspirations, and Insights”

The Innovations in Teaching committee cordially invites faculty, staff, and students to register for the Innovations in Teaching 2022 Conference! The presentation topics will include sessions on technology integration, social emotional learning (SEL)/mental health, effective use of teaching modalities, pedagogical strategies; instructional & assessment, strategies for clinical practice online, and service learning experiences.

Nolan Perez, M.D., of Harlingen, was appointed to The University of Texas System Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott in March 2019 and was reappointed to a six-year term in April 2021. Dr. Perez earned a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin and a Medical Doctorate from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He is board certified in Gastroenterology and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and American College of Gastroenterology. He previously in the U.S. Navy as a Medical Corps Officer and received the Navy Commendation and Navy Achievement Medals. Dr. Perez has served on many local and statewide councils, foundations, and boards and currently serves as a Trustee for the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District. |
Dr. Leticia De Leon is a professor of Teaching and Learning at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with over 25 years of experience including 15 at the university level in the teacher preparation program. Dr. De Leon holds a doctorate in curriculum and instruction, concentrates her teaching and research in designing transformative learning experiences that engage and motivate adult learners in immersive learning environments. Dr. De Leon also has expertise in online learning design and instruction and has leveraged immersive tools and strategies for project and problem-based learning, including gamification, virtual worlds, and multimedia engagement using universal design methods. |
