The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCMPE) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.
The BSEE program first earned accreditation (as The University of Texas – Pan American) in 1995.
The BSCMPE program first earned accreditation (as The University of Texas – Pan American) in 2008.
Both programs have been accredited under The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV)since 2015.

Program Educational Objectives
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
The educational objectives of the Electrical Engineering program at UTRGV are to prepare graduates who, within five years of graduation, will have established themselves as practicing engineers with the demonstrated ability to:
- apply the knowledge and technical skills to effectively solve important electrical engineering related problems,
- work effectively in team settings and in diverse environments,
- practice with professionalism and commit to ethical responsibilities; and consider safety and socioeconomic issues in developing engineering solutions to technical problems, and
- engage in lifelong learning through graduate studies and professional development activities.
Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering
The educational objectives of the Computer Engineering Program at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley are to prepare graduates who, in the workforce or beyond the University, demonstrate that they:
- practice the necessary breadth and depth to be productive in a computer engineering career or in the pursuit of advanced degrees in computer engineering,
- are life-long learners who can adapt to the rapidly changing nature of the computer engineering field, and
- are aware of the technical, business, social, ethical, and human context of their engineering contributions.
Student Outcomes
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
