Meet Our Community
Our community partners are the heart of our work at the Center for Community Resilience Research, Innovation & Advocacy. Their lived experience, local knowledge, and ongoing commitment to the Rio Grande Valley strengthen every project we take on together. We recognize that true resilience begins with collaboration — with the organizations, advocates, and residents who know our region best.
Voces Unidas centers the ancestral wisdom of migrants, Indigenous and Black people, women and queer folks as culture bearers, wisdom keepers and innovators of liberation. We know that at the root of reimagining immigration and the border is a need for abolitionist futures that reimagine economies, nation-states and ground in the immediacy of climate chaos. We are storytellers, builders, dreamers, shapeshifters, organizers, healers and magic makers living on occupied Somi Se'k.

Proyecto Azteca, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving housing conditions for low-income families in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. They focus on building and repairing affordable homes, empowering communities, and advocating for social justice. Through various programs and initiatives, Proyecto Azteca works to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing for those in need, helping to uplift families and strengthen communities.

ARISE Adelante, A Resource In Serving Equality moving forward, empowers immigrants living in low-income communities in South Texas to attain a better life for themselves, their families and their community. Through education, resources and support ARISE provides these immigrant communities with the foundation to achieve their life goals.
