Admission

Complete the application using the UTRGV Graduate College application portal.

Required documents include:

  • Official transcripts (with official WES or FCSA evaluation).
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation.
  • A personal statement outlining career goals.
  • GMAT/GRE scores. Test scores should be within the last five years.
  • International applicants should also submit TOEFL (with minimum scores of 550 on paper-based, 213 on computer based, or 79 on Internet-based) or IELTS (with a minimum score of 6.5).
  • Resume or curriculum vitae.
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required for graduate admission.
  • A minimum GMAT score of 500 is required.

Application deadline for Fall 2024 admission is February 1, 2024.

The program has no rolling admission and all applications are evaluated in spring for admission in the fall semester.

Complete applications packages are evaluated by a team of doctoral faculty members and the RCVCOBE PhD committee, including online interviews with the finalists. Higher scores on standardized tests and demonstrated research potential increases the likelihood of admission. Admission decisions are communicated in writing via email.

All accepted PhD students are funded throughout the duration of the program as long as they maintain satisfactory academic progress.
