A faculty member in the UTRGV Department of Anthropology, and Curator of the Border Studies Archive, has conducted anthropological, archaeological, and historical research in Ecuador and Peru focusing on the social aspects of the production and consumption of food and cuisine through the analysis of material remains.

Lupe A. Flores

Lupe A. Flores

Former Curatorial Assistant at the Border Studies Archive, focused his thesis research in human smuggling facilitation and border militarization along the Rio Grande in Hidalgo County. He's published in Anthropology News, Allegra Lab: Anthropology, Law, Art, World, openDemocracy: Free Thinking for the World and Rio Bravo: A Journal of the Borderlands, and is now pursuing his PhD at Rice University in Houston, Texas.

Shantal Brissette

Curatorial Assistant at the BSA. She holds a BA in Anthropology, and is currently studying her grandfather's rural hometown of Las Ovejas in Nuevo Leon, Mexico for the purpose of her MA in Interdisciplinary Studies program.

Rocío Díaz

Rocío Díaz

The BSA's newest Curatorial Assistant Rocío Díaz, holds a MA in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Anthropology. Having a background in dietetics, she plans in pursuing a PhD focusing on how diet habits are directly linked to cultural traditions.
