Summer 2025 Session I and Summer 2025 Module II for AOP Courses

Brightspace is a learning management system. Brightspace will replace Blackboard as our campus learning management system in the summer of 2025. Brightspace is the industry leader in data analytics and accessibility. It's also the leading learning management system in new adoptions in North America.

• simplified content creation tools that will empower instructors to build compelling, engaging courses;
• integrated communication tools (announcements, email, and instant messages) that allow students to connect with instructors and peers seamlessly and efficiently; and
• the convenience of full mobile accessibility and the ability to access courses and submit and grade assignments from anywhere.

Brightspace will be available in early Spring for Faculty and early Summer for Students.

Training sessions for faculty will start Feb. 4th, 2025 and will continue through all Summer. Register today on our Faculty Training webpage.

Upon completion of the Brightspace faculty training, you will be granted access to a Brightspace course sandbox within the UTRGV production environment, providing a realistic learning experience to practice and explore the new Learning Management System.

Yes, request form information to transfer courses from Blackboard to Brightspace will be provided during Faculty training sessions.

Courses will be archived and will be available for two additional years in compliance with the university retention policies and procedures.

All course content, including 3rd party tools, will be transferred from Blackboard to Brightspace.

All existing organizations will be migrated from Blackboard to Brightspace. Organization leaders will be notified once COLTT completes this process. To request a new Brightspace organization, visit the Brightspace Organizations support article.

Access to Brightspace will be available via MyUTRGV starting Summer 2025.

For students enrolled in Summer 2025 Session I, access to courses in Brightspace will be by Monday, June 9, 2025.

For students enrolled in Summer 2025 Module II, access to courses in Brightspace will be by Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

*Please note that instructors have the option to open courses earlier at their discretion.

Brightspace offers Brightspace Pulse, available on Google Play and the App Store, which allows students to receive course notifications on the go. Your courses will be available in the app once they are available in Brightspace.
