Mission Statement
UTRGV's Writing Center is dedicated to empowering student voices through their writing. Our mission is to provide students with opportunities to authentically engage with feedback and the writing process. Our vision is to contribute to a positive, campus-wide writing culture.
To this end, the Writing Center seeks to:
- Provide accessible writing support (online and face-to-face) to undergraduate and graduate students.
- Develop student confidence in their abilities to think critically, communicate effectively, and revise their writing independently.
- Provide rhetorically informed and targeted feedback to students that addresses a variety of higher-order, medium-order, and lower-order concerns, including content, structure, organization, effective use of reliable sources, and citation formatting.
- Encourage and support student writing at UTRGV through the development of writing-related resources, initiatives, and workshops/events.
