Responsible for the development and implementation of marketing efforts for our department that are consistent with University of Texas Rio Grande Valley policy, the Division of Strategic Enrollment & Student Affairs practices, and National Intramural Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) guidelines.

Responsibility

Position Overview

Act as a liaison between the student marketing team and the Business Operations & Engagement Coordinator for University Recreation. The Graduate Supervisor will assist in planning, coordinating, and executing marketing efforts in the image and branding of the department.

Major Duties

  • Assist in the administration of the day-to-day operations of Marketing, including staff supervision, team and employee scheduling, staff training, policy writing, risk management, and website development.
  • Assist in the image and branding of the department through the promotion of the department's facilities, programs, and services.
  • Contribute ideas and design artwork that supports the department's mission.
  • Assist in developing new and innovative marketing strategies while balancing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Being aware of emerging advancements in new media, with an emphasis on design programs.
  • Responsible for reviewing all marketing designs, photography/video, and social media
  • Plans, develops, and provides ongoing training and student staff development programs based on the specific program and/or department goals.
  • Develop and implement marketing procedures for consistency with University policy, Student Affairs practices, and National Intramural Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) guidelines.
  • Manage, track, and report project requests
  • Prepare and analyze reports on a month/semester/year basis.
  • Will assist with department special events as well as perform other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate with community and University resources to publicize the department.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of University Recreation’s strategic communications plan throughout the academic year.
  • Measure communication effectiveness through qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Analyze digital campaign performance and implement recommendations based on them.
  • Work with different vendors and analytics tools for pulling together campaign reports and giving recommendations for future campaign planning.
  • Works independently, receives minimal guidance, and acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communication, or in related field.
  • Admission into the Graduate College.
  • Demonstrates experience with Adobe applications.

Preferred

  • Have a specialization in one or more of the following: copywriting and social media, design, photo/video editing, and archiving.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, InDesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop.

Act as a liaison between the student communications team and the Marketing and Communications Graduate Assistant for University Recreation. This position is to plan, coordinate, and execute marketing efforts in addition to leading and managing the communications team.

Major Duties

  • Help plan, coordinate, and execute communications efforts in addition to designing campaigns for programming departments.
  • Assist with the development of strategies and campaigns to publicize and promote programs and facilities.
  • Assists departments with marketing and advertising materials while balancing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Assist in hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating student employees.
  • Provide leadership and supervision for employees in the distribution of media and print, including copywriting, copyediting, social media, photography, and videography.
  • Manage and keep track of assigned tasks to the communications team.
  • Review and edit all social media posts before and after posting.
  • Represent department at fairs and events on/off campus.
  • Coordinate with community and University resources to publicize the department.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of University Recreation’s strategic communications plan throughout the academic year.
  • Contribute ideas and design artwork that supports the department's mission.
  • Maintaining the ability to contribute ideas and develop designs that implement new and innovative trends of marketing.
  • Assist in hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating the student employees’ efforts and contributions.
  • Being aware of emerging advancements in new media, with an emphasis on design programs.
  • Consolidate, coordinate, and review the creative work of the design team.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

  • Must be a current student or a student pre-registered for the upcoming long semester (fall/spring, min. 12 hrs). Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Minimum of six (6) months working knowledge of one or more of the following design programs: InDesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop. Have a specialization in one or more of the following: copywriting and social media, design, photo/video editing, and archiving.

Preferred

  • Able to work on a Mac and PC. Creative mind to draw, design, and create balanced compositions to promote events, activities, and programs.

Position Overview

To provide frontline marketing for University Recreation, with a special concentration on creating marketing campaigns and designing marketing instruments. This position is responsible for creating design solutions that have a high visual impact.

Major Duties

  • Assist in developing new and innovative marketing strategies.
  • Visually portray programming in a unique and impressive appearance.
  • Develop designs by gathering information and data through research.
  • Contribute ideas and design artwork that supports the department's mission.
  • Being aware of emerging advancements in new media, with an emphasis in design programs.
  • Coordinate with community and University resources to help publicize the department.
  • Utilize and Assist with photography and video.
  • Post graphics and signage that promote various department events, activities, and programs.
  • Perform other duties assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be a current student or a student pre-registered for the upcoming long semester (fall/spring, min. 12 hrs). Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience writing, editing, printing, and using various software programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign.

Preferred

  • Able to work on a Mac and PC. Have a creative mind to promote events, activities, and programs.
  • Have a specialization in one or more of the following: copywriting and social media, design, photo/video editing, and archiving.

Position Overview 
Promotional Assistants post flyers and signage around campus, table at weekly events, represent University Recreation at various campus events, promote our programs and services in a personable and fun demeanor. They assist in the preparation of print media and promotional items. They must be aware of all program areas to help answer patrons’ questions. 
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Promote department and program activities at approved campus locations and within department facilities 
  • Prepare and provide presentations on University Recreation offerings and benefits 
  • Manage the printing of and posting of flyers and postings within University Recreation facilities as well as various buildings on campus 
  • Responsible for representing the personality and voice of University Recreation through social media platforms 
  • Collaborates with University Recreation professional staff to create a Social Media calendar that is constantly changing and being updated as needs arise 
  • Works with all University Recreation areas to keep the website up-to-date 
  • Monitors and updates internal institutional marketing platforms like UREC App, V-link, UTRGV Messenger, and University Event calendar 
  • Monitor social media sites, respond to questions, and facilitate conversation 
  • Adhere to University and Department branding and style guidelines 
  • Abides by UTRGV guidelines regarding social media 
  • Perform other duties assigned

  • Must be a current student or a student pre-registered for the upcoming long semester (fall/spring, min. 12 hrs). Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
  • Minimum of six (6) months experience in marketing, broadcast, or public relations.
  • Have a specialization in copywriting and social media.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere and After Effects.

Responsibility

Position Overview

To help plan, coordinate, and execute marketing and communication efforts. This position is
responsible for creating and designing engaging videos broadcasting the department’s
programs and services. Video requests consist of, but are not limited to, promotional material
creation, commercial creation, public service announcements, video and photo editing, and
how-to instructional.

Major Duties

  • We are looking for an experienced video editor who can take a wide range of video clips
    from our many programs and events to promote promotional engagement.
  • Understanding the technical aspects of filmmaking, frame rates, and file formats.
  • Ability to collaborate with the team and clients while having a strong communication
    skill.
  • Assist in possible continuous training series.
  • Maintain an ability to work on multiple projects at any given time.
  • Be accessible to be called in for emergency creations of video, or media-related content
    with the capability to travel and shoot on location.
  • Ability to apply different styles to projects based on objectives and goals.
  • Motion graphics and photography experience preferred.
  • Consolidate, coordinate, and review the digital media produced by department staff.
  • Basic knowledge of graphical assets, fonts, etc. used during the editing process.
  • Ensure proper maintenance on the equipment before and after usage.
  • Perform other duties assigned

Responsibility

Position Overview

This position is responsible for assisting with the day to day operations for the administrative office and providing direct support to the professional staff.

Major Duties

  • Receive all visitors to the administrative office.
  • Answer and redirect phone calls, and take messages.
  • Use computer database and word processing programs; operate office equipment including printers, copier and fax.
  • Distribute mail and perform general clerical tasks as necessary.
  • Assist with running errands on campus.
  • Provide customer service in a proficient and expeditious manner.
  • Be familiar with general membership and program registration information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must be a current student or a student pre-registered for the upcoming long semester (fall/spring, min. 12 hrs). Student must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0. This position must have good interpersonal skills and be knowledgeable of the operations, services and programs of the department.

Requirements

Complete UTRGV employee compliance trainings; must pass State of Texas criminal background check.
