Director's Welcome

Welcome to the School of Accountancy at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. As the founding director of the school, I would like to ask you – our business leaders, alumni and friends – to become involved in our curriculum design and development, student recruitment, and other initiatives to achieve our mission of providing a premier education to our students and helping UTRGV become a Tier I research institution.

Our College of Business and Entrepreneurship is accredited by the AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, which places us in the top five percent of all business schools worldwide. The college and the School of Accountancy are committed to providing an excellent education to our students. The school offers a baccalaureate degree in accounting, as well as a Master of Accountancy, and will have an integrated BBA/MBA and BBA/MACC program soon (subject to approval by the UT System) as a means of providing our accounting majors an opportunity to both earn a master’s degree and satisfy the 150-hour requirement to sit for the CPA exam. Our long-term goal is to obtain separate accounting accreditation and offer a Ph.D. program in accounting to address the short supply of accounting educators and add to the nationwide faculty diversity.
