The UTRGV Counseling Center recognizes that current times come with their own set of life changes, stressors, and potential added challenges to accessing resources for your overall emotional wellbeing. We are here to assist. Below are support resources we offer for your mental health, coping ability, general adjustment, and overall wellness.
Telemental health counseling: Secure and confidential online individual, couples, and group therapy is available. Tele-health mental health counseling sessions are held over UTRGV Skype for Business or UTRGV ZOOM. Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP): The CRP hosts online support groups and other programs to assist students in the process of recovery from addictions. BASICS and CASICS are judgment-free programs designed to assist students in learning more about their use of alcohol or marijuana. Housing and Residence Life
Student housing is available for UTRGV students, faculty, and staff. Starting October 1, 2020 residents can apply for on campus housing for Spring 2021 semester and reside on campus with safety measures in place as listed in the Resident Handbook and Acknowledgement Communicable Diseases (Including Covid-19) .

The Dean of Students office assists students when they experience a challenge with an administrative process, unexpected situation such as an illness, accident, or family situation, and aids in resolving complaints. Additionally, the office helps to advocate on behalf of students and inform students about their rights and responsibilities as well as serving as a resource and support for faculty and campus departments.
Vaqueros Report It allows students, staff and faculty a way to report concern about the well-being of a student, seek assistance in resolving a complaint, or report allegations of behaviors contrary to community standards or campus policies.

University Recreation (UREC)
University Recreation recognizes the essential nature of overall health and wellness for all of our patrons during this difficult time. Starting on June 1, the Edinburg UREC facility re-opened sections of the building with schedule modifications and 25% occupancy restrictions in place.
Spring Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday (10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.)
What can you expect?
- The facility has been reconfigured to accommodate patrons for a 25% capacity limit while reinforcing social distancing requirements.
- Appointment Scheduling will be made through IM Leagues - A scheduling system will be implemented using IM Leagues. Members will need to download the IM Leagues App. UREC will provide instructions and assistance as to how to set up accounts and provide information as to how to reserve times and spaces in the facility. Time slots are preset in IM Leagues for 30 minutes.
- All regular entrance policies are still applicable (ie. appropriate athletic attire, UTRGV ID needed upon entry into the facility, etc.)
- Preventive measures that will be taken to protect you and our members:
- Patrons will be required to bring your own facial covering and full finger gloves in accordance with Texas State Department of Health and Human Services minimum recommended health protocols.
- Patrons will complete a health questionnaire upon entrance indicating they are not experiencing physical symptoms of COVID-19.
- Patrons must wipe down equipment before and after use of equipment.
- All patrons and staff will abide by physical distancing guidelines unless injury, risk mitigation, or safety measure require otherwise.
- Enhanced Cleaning and Disinfection – The facility will have opening and closing blocks scheduled when we will ask patrons to vacate so that our staff can not only clean, but disinfect the facility for the next scheduled group.
The UREC team recognizes that the new parameters may be challenging for some; however, we ask for your understanding and cooperation. We are committed to doing what we can to try to provide as safe of an environment as we can so that our members can get into the facility.

Preventive Measures
- Accessible online synchronous and asynchronous writing consultations
- Limited in-person consultations and by appointment only. High traffic areas in the Writing Center will be disinfected and sanitized frequently. Plexiglass partitions are available to assist in social distancing during writing consultations, and we ask that students adhere to UTRGV’s face covering policy. Masks are available for students upon request.

V One Card
ID Card Office is available to serve you in-persona and remotely.
Contactless service is provided using our V OneCard GET portal. You can submit a request for your official University issued identification card (known as V OneCard) using our Online ID Request Process ( click here for a step-by-step instruction guide). The GET portal allows you to upload your photo ID, an ID card will be printed remotely and mailed to your home address. Super easy and no waiting in lines!
