"A few years ago I would've never imagined I'd be doing what I'm doing now. Being a part of something like the UTRGV Street Team gives me the amazing opportunity to connect with other students and my community; something that I was used to running away from. It's not that I didn't want to, but dealing with anxiety and depression is never easy, as I'm sure you've heard many times before. I'm trying my best to deal with the overwhelming feeling of straying from huge crowds or person to person interaction and I have to say, I am so proud of myself. I found the perfect place to challenge my mind and with that, better my mental health and advance my career. The UTRGV Street Team represents everything I strive to be! Every day I push boundaries, every day I make commitments, and every day my weakness becomes my strength."

"Being a member of the UTRGV Street Team is a continuously gratifying experience. The activities we participate in are exciting, rewarding, and heartwarming. I’m now confident in acquiring new and applying learned capabilities. I’ve grown skill sets by learning new marketing strategies for myself, products, and organizations. I’ve had the privilege of witnessing our team develop and execute ideas. I am appreciative of our team’s prominence and productivity because I’d like to one day thrive in an event planning business that would require similar skill sets. I appreciate learning approaches to engaging with and satisfying new people, maintaining flexibility, and collaborating with other organizations and committees.
I enjoy sharing my charisma and unique thinking. I also enjoy making people happy on a day to day basis, and I would especially enjoy being able to shape someone’s entire experience at an event to be a happy one. One day, I’d like for a broad spectrum of people around the globe to know me by face and name. I’d like to host and design an array of events with a team of other creative and unique individuals that help showcase inspirational and inventive people."

“Honestly, the UTRGV Street Team gives me purpose. Every week there's a new deadline or event to work towards, and I have so much freedom to try and make something awesome with the team. I also get to improve and refine my weaknesses and learn from my mistakes since there are always things to do. I have no idea where I'd be without The Street Team, since it is very much a part of me now.”

“So much can happen within a year or so. Street Team has helped me grow so much as an individual. I’ve learned to enjoy my present, prepare for what’s coming, and learn from my past. Noticing how my personality has developed to be better makes me extremely happy. Something that’s always on my mind is how thankful I have to be of where I am. There’s a great responsibility that comes with opportunities, and because of this is that I believe that there’s never too much to learn; someone outside knows more than me, and it’s my decision whether that upsets me or encourages me. Being this my last semester as an undergrad and street teamer definitely makes me sad because of all the good friends and fun memories I’ve made, but I am so grateful and satisfied to see how a work that has cost me so much has bloomed into everything I’m part of. Life gave me some lemons, but I managed to make lemonade and raspas for my loved ones and I.”

"Have you ever experienced something that it is so amazing that you're afraid you won't get to experience it again? I have, and it's a crazy and an amazing feeling. Being part of the UTRGV Street Team has given me a voice and I've created so many amazing memories that I will hold dear to my heart. I've met so many people with different and crazy stories that have made me value everyone I meet. It has given me a different outlook on life and it's changed me indefinitely. I would like to thank everyone who has put up with my very outgoing personality and really loud voice. Thank you for everything and don't forget to put your V's up."

“I joined the Street Team because I wanted to meet new people and connect with them on a different level. I didn't want the typical ‘what’s your major?’, ‘where are you from?’ kind of conversations. I mean, that's cool and all, but when do you get to really know them? When I transferred to UTRGV I had already experienced a school with plenty of traditions and history behind it. So when I came back, I wanted to give the students here an experience they’ll never forget. That’s what college is all about: creating memories that you’ll never forget, and that’s what I want to be a part of.”

“I love being a part of the Street Team so much! It’s such a fun job and it has really pushed me out of my comfort zone, which is a good thing because it means that I’m growing. In the short time that I’ve been a part of the team I’m starting to see myself develop and cultivate this new sense of confidence. I’m beginning to take my weaknesses and turn them into strengths. I decided to join the Street Team because it really caught my attention since it’s a position directly related to marketing, and with graduation right around the corner, I knew that I needed some experience to help me once I enter into the professional job market. Ever since I was 16 years old my dream has been to work in the fashion industry as a buyer. There have been times where people, and even myself have thought my dreams are a little far fetched. I’ve realized that it doesn’t matter what region you live in, what the color of your skin is, or what your socioeconomic status is, if you are driven, passionate, and determined, there will come a day where your dreams will become your reality. You can accomplish anything that you set your mind to. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

I’m a junior mass communications major with a focus in advertising/public relations and I am minoring in environmental studies. I’m a really outgoing person and crave excitement. I always noticed that the UTRGV Street Team had excitement coming their way because of all the events they get to work at every week. I am so excited that after admiring the fun-loving, school spirited team, I get to be a part of it. This is a great opportunity for me to gain connections throughout the Valley in the University Marketing and Communications department. I can’t express the joy I have from being able to collaborate with my team to spread the Vaquero pride.

“I’ve always been an outgoing person who strives to be the best at all costs. However, the life we live in is known for throwing unexpected curveballs. There was a point in my life where the qualities I’m the most confident with, were blurred out due to subconscious memories taking over. Suddenly, I went from enjoying being around people to taking the longest path in order to not make eye contact with anyone. I was lost. I knew deep down that wasn’t the Viviana everyone knew and certainly I didn’t either. Then, I met the former UTRGV Street Teamers and seeing how full of life they were made me snap out of that phase I was going through. Life is too short to let the past take over.”
“Today, I proudly say that I’m a part of the UTRGV Street Team. I see this as an opportunity to make connections with UTRGV and the Rio Grande Valley community. I look forward to learning the talents and skills the University Marketing and Communications Department team has. There is no doubt in my mind that where I am today is a coincidence. I’ve been placed here for a reason and I will do my best to make an imprint on people’s lives.”
