Who We Are Now

The increasingly multilingual reality of the United States has resulted in a growing demand for translators and interpreters. According to the latest data published by the U.S. Census, more than 25 million people in the United States speak English less than “very well,” and this includes 16 million Spanish speakers who are not fully proficient in English. Many Spanish speakers with limited English proficiency interact with society in diverse ways.

UTRGV offers the most comprehensive array of graduate and undergraduate Spanish T&I courses in the nation, with a minor and a major at the undergraduate levels, 5 different specialized graduate certificates and a full-fledged, 100% online Master of Arts program in T&I.

We invite you to explore our website and to reach us with any questions through e-mail at tip@utrgv.edu or directly through any faculty member in the program.
