The Texas Regional Alliance for Campus Sustainability (TRACS) is an organization dedicated to promoting sustainability practices and initiatives in higher education institutions across Texas. It serves as a collaborative platform for universities and colleges to share knowledge, resources, and best practices in order to create more environmentally friendly and socially responsible campuses. Now in its 10th year, TRACS brings together leaders who are institutionalizing sustainability within higher education by integrating it into all aspects of academics, outreach, and operations.

TRACS is primarily targeted towards universities and colleges in Texas, including public and private institutions. It aims to engage faculty, staff, students, and administrators in sustainability efforts, fostering a culture of environmental stewardship and social responsibility within the higher education community.

In 2016 and now 2024, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley had the privilege of hosting the TRACS conference at the beautiful South Padre Island Convention Center. As the host institution, UTRGV played a crucial role in organizing and facilitating the event, ensuring its success. Hosting the TRACS conference provided UTRGV with the opportunity to showcase its commitment to sustainability and share its initiatives with other institutions.

Over the years, TRACS has been successful in increasing awareness and promoting sustainability practices in Texas universities and colleges. Through its conferences, workshops, and collaborative projects, TRACS has brought together a diverse range of stakeholders who are passionate about sustainability. This has led to a significant growth in attendance and participation from various institutions, indicating a growing interest and commitment to sustainability in higher education.
