The main purpose of the project is to increase the productivity of faculty and students engaged in research directly related to the Rio Grande Valley. It will increase research opportunities and support for student participation in research, peer-reviewed publications and presentations. Additionally, it will include the development of a Bilingual Lab for the corpus work and other local language-related research. This corpus will be cited by researchers throughout the world interested in border languages and communities, raising national awareness of the Rio Grande Valley.
