The 2020 Clinical Bioethics Symposium will be held Saturday, January 25, 2020, and Sunday, January 26, 2020, at the UTRGV School of Medicine Auditorium located at 1210 W. Schunior St. Edinburg, TX 78541.

This two-day conference is designed to assemble leaders from clinical and academic bioethics to explore ethical questions and concerns in health care.

Session Topics will include:

  • Ethical Principles and Values
  • Ethical Decision-Making
  • Clinical settings where ethics discussions arise

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Provide up-to-date information in clinical ethics relevant to their practice.
  • Provide approaches to ethical reasoning that clarify ethical problems.
  • Facilitate professional discussion of ethical challenges and decision-making in health care.
  • Encourage professional networking for ongoing dialogue, support, and collaboration.

Registration

Registration for the Bioethics Symposium is $200. You must pre-register to attend the Bioethics Symposium. Walk-in registrations are discouraged, as we cannot guarantee a seat or meal. Please register no later than Tuesday, January 14, 2020.

Location and Parking
The UTRGV School of Medicine Auditorium is located at 1210 W. Schunior St. Edinburg, TX 78541, off 1200 West Schunior Street in Edinburg. The symposium will be held in the SOM Auditorium Room 1.203. Parking will be available near the School of Medicine building.

Continuing Medical Education
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Texas Medical Association through the joint providership of DHR Health and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) School of Medicine.

DHR Health is accredited by the Texas Medical Association to provide Continuing Medical Education Credits for physicians. DHR Health designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity “Clinical Bioethics Symposium” has been designated for 8.5 credit of education in medical ethics and/or professional responsibility.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 8.5 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. IT is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Your points will be automatically submitted to the ABIM on your behalf through the ACCME PAR site; please allow 48-72 hours for your points to display on the ABIM website.

Social Workers

DHR Health is an approved provider of continuing education for Social Workers by the Texas State Board of Social Workers Examiners (TSBSWE, approval #7739 expires 03/31/20). Earn up to 8.5 hours
