Welcome from the Program Director

We are very excited to offer this new residency program at University of Texas Rio Grande Valley at Doctor’s Hospital Renaissance. This one-year program will provide a foundation in fundamental clinical skills to carry forward in your future endeavors. We will provide a wide range of learning experiences including the opportunity at research and/or quality improvement project, clinical teaching, and didactic activities.

Our program will enable you to develop the skills and confidence to care for patients of all ages. You will find our faculty and staff are enthusiastic to teach you and willing to help you meet your goals. We strive to provide excellent and safe learning environment using evidence-based medicine.

Our program can be used as a stepping stone to subspecialties, preventive medicine, research, administration, or to help you choose your future. We are located in the Rio Grande Valley. We are home to approximately 1.4 million people. We are situated on the border of the United States and Mexico. We are a culturally rich region but typically considered a medically underserved area. Our goal is to bring world-class healthcare here to the South Texas. Thank you for your interest in our residency!
