Internal Medicine Residency Program at Rio Grande Regional Hospital
Director's Welcome
It is with great pleasure that I extend to you a warm welcome to our UTRGV Internal Medicine Residency Program here in the beautiful Rio Grande Valley. On behalf of the entire faculty and staff, I want to express our excitement and enthusiasm for the possibility of you joining our program. Our program is dedicated to providing comprehensive training that equips residents with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to excel in the practice of internal medicine.
The Rio Grande Valley is not just a location; it's a vibrant community rich in culture, diversity, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Our multisite program is deeply rooted in serving this community, and we believe that your presence would contribute greatly to our mission of providing exceptional healthcare to the residents of this region. The Rio Grande Valley is located at the southernmost point of Texas. At the meeting point of Mexico and the United States, the four-county region called the Valley is one of the fastest growing areas of the United States. Our medical school, residency program, and residents are committed to resolving health disparities in our community.
Throughout your residency, you will have the opportunity to work alongside faculty members who are dedicated to your success. Our curriculum is designed to provide a balance of clinical experience, didactic education, simulation training, and scholarly opportunities, ensuring that you receive a well-rounded training experience that prepares you for a successful career in internal medicine. As you consider your options for residency training, I encourage you to explore all that our program has to offer. We are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment where residents can thrive professionally and personally.
I have been working with UTRGV Internal Medicine programs for nearly 5 years now and it has been a true honor to not only take care of patients in the Rio Grande Valley, but also train physicians who are giving back to this community and helping to close the gap in healthcare disparities in this medically underserved area. I hope that we have sparked your interest in our program and we wish you the best as you begin your medical career.
