- Kashif Ali, MD

Dr. Kashif Ali was born and raised in Pakistan. He graduated from Dow Medical College in 2021. Dr. Ali completed his internship year in his home country. During that time, he got enthusiastic about learning and practicing evidence-based medicine. He came to the United States and got clinical experience in Houston, TX. Dr. Ali is interested in gastroenterology or interventional cardiology but is also open to exploring other specialties during his residency. Apart from medicine, Dr. Ali is very enthusiastic about Sindhi culture; he likes music, reading Sindhi novels, and spending time with family and friends. He is always passionate about contributing to society.

- Conrad Chouinard, MD

Dr. Conrad Chouinard was born in Winnipeg, Canada and raised in Lumsden, Saskatchewan, Canada. During his medical school training at St. James School of Medicine, he had the privilege of moving to the RGV to complete his clinical rotations in McAllen and immediately loved the cultural diversity of the area. When he has free time, Dr. Chouinard enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking his dogs, exercising, and trying all of the delicious restaurants that the RGV has to offer. He could not be more proud to be part of the UTRGV Knapp Internal Medicine family. His medical interests are hospitalist medicine and cardiology.
- Donnel Dockery-Joseph, MD

Dr. Donnel Dockery-Joseph born in Miami, Florida, is the first of five children to Jamaican immigrant parents, Nelson Dockery, MD and Dona Cooper-Dockery, MD. She is proud to call the Rio Grande Valley home, having been raised in McAllen and Mission. Dr. Dockery-Joseph received her medical doctorate from Saba University School of Medicine in the Dutch Antilles. She finds herself passionate about providing quality healthcare to those in need by participating in free medical outreach services domestically in various cities in the United States and internationally in Saba, St. Martin, Haiti, and Ghana. Dr. Dockery-Joseph is a co-author for the books Charlie Goes to the Doctor and God Has Not Forgotten: You Matter. She also gives back to her community as a youth leader, by providing plant-based meals, and as a musician: flutist, pianist, and lyric soprano singer. Dr. Dockery-Joseph is elated to return to the Rio Grande Valley to complete her specialty training and provide competent, compassionate healthcare to the community she was raised in.
- Edgar Dorsey Trevino, MD

Dr. Edgar G. Dorsey Trevino was born and raised in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He obtained his medical degree at the School of Medicine at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon. During his undergraduate medical training, he received extensive training in clinical epidemiology, applied biostatistics, and evidence synthesis, leading him to participate in and lead various research projects. Driven by his desire to practice and incorporate evidence-based medicine into patient care, he pursued a master's degree in medical sciences in clinical investigation, focusing on comparative effectiveness research, at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. His research interest involves using causal inference methods on complex longitudinal data to unravel risk factors that could aid in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, or complications of non-communicable diseases. Dr. Dorsey is delighted and humbled to have an opportunity to care for patients in the Rio Grande Valley area, practicing his learned apothegm: "My patients are not numbers." His short- and long-term goals are to pursue a subspecialty fellowship and establish a position in an academic institution where he can practice clinical medicine and investigation as a physician-scientist. Outside of medicine, he enjoys exercising, socializing with family and friends, reading about the universe, the philosophy of human behavior, and thrillers. - Yareli Durazo, MD

Dr. Yareli Durazo was born and raised in Sonora, Mexico. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Sonora. She practiced medicine in her hometown and had the opportunity to be part of her state's organ and tissue donation team. Outside of medicine, Dr. Durazo loves to spend time with her little chihuahua, Bodoquito, and friends. She is excited to be in the valley and be a part of the internal medicine residency program at UTRGV-Knapp Medical Center.
- Ramon Elizondo, MD

Dr. Ramon Elizondo was born and raised in a mining town in Mexico. He grew up in a pharmacy owned by his grandfather, where low-income people received free healthcare consultations and quickly developed a keen interest in medicine. Dr. Elizondo graduated from Tecnológico de Monterrey in the top quartile of his class; he participated in diverse research projects during his social service year at MD Anderson under the guidance of Dr. Roberto Adachi. He returned to Mexico to start his internal medicine residency in the most prestigious hospital in the country, Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán. Dr. Elizondo is a firm believer that high-quality medicine is a never-ending commitment and he decided to apply for residency in the US and, hopefully, a critical care fellowship in the future to be able to help people to the best of his abilities with the care and compassion that he learned from his grandfather. Dr. Elizondo enjoys spending time with his family, going to the cinema, hiking, playing soccer, brewing coffee, and cooking, but mostly consuming middle eastern cuisine.
- Oyinlola Fasehun, MD

Dr. Oyinlola Fasehun was born and raised in Nigeria. She obtained her medical degree at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and was awarded a full scholarship throughout medical school. After graduating, she practiced medicine in her home country and volunteered with a non-profit organization that helped provide access to healthcare services for the underserved. She relocated to the United States a few years ago and became knowledgeable about the US healthcare system through several clinical rotations in different hospitals. She was also actively involved in research projects. Dr. Oyinlola Fasehun is excited to be part of the UTRGV-KMC family and happy to serve the people of the Valley.

Dr. Elimar Gonzalez is a dedicated and passionate doctor from Venezuela, a country that has faced significant challenges as a result of the ongoing refugee crisis. She grew up witnessing the hardships that underserved communities face, and this experience has fueled a strong desire to positively impact the lives of those in need. Dr. Gonzalez decided to pursue a medical career because she has a heart for service and a desire to help others. She aims to become an endocrinologist who can provide much-needed aid to underserved and vulnerable populations.

Dr. SriHarsha Koneru was born and raised in India. He completed his medical school at Dr. P.S.I Medical College. He is passionate about internal medicine and is open to any growing interest in fellowship over the course of his residency. Dr. Koneru loves meeting new people and traveling places with friends.
- Barbara Malaga Espinoza, MD

Dr. Barbara Malaga Espinoza was born and raised in Lima, Peru. She obtained her medical degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. After graduation, she was involved in medical education as a clinical simulation educator and became a junior faculty of her medical school. In her hometown, Dr. Malaga has achieved vast social work experience with underserved communities in rural areas. Additionally, she is passionate about addressing health disparities in the Valley as retribution for the opportunity to learn from the community. Her interests are internal medicine, cardiology, and academic medicine. During her free time, Dr. Malaga enjoys painting with watercolors and oil, reading novels, and going to the beach. She is excited to be part of the Internal Medicine Program at UTRGV Knapp Medical Center!

Dr. Diana Othon was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. She completed her medical education at the Universidad de Monterrey. After graduating, she had the opportunity to be a teacher and entrepreneur until she started her journey in research at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas for a couple of years prior to starting residency. In her free time, Dr. Othon loves going for long runs and spending time at the beach with her husband and dog, Coco. Dr. Othon is very excited to be a part of UTRGV KMC and would love to pursue a cardiology fellowship.

Dr. Victor Tran was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Euless, Texas. He completed his undergraduate education at Baylor University in Waco and went to medical school at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. His professional interests are in hospital medicine and nephrology. Outside of medicine, Dr. Tran enjoys drawing, reading, cooking, and working out. He plays the piano, and his favorite pieces to play are by Rachmaninoff. He is excited to be joining the UTRGV- Knapp Medical Center team.
