Karrar Al Gburi was born and raised in Iraq. He graduated from the University of Babylon, School of Medicine. After college, Dr. Al Gburi had 4 years in clinical practice including 2 years in internal medicine.
His passion for medicine and ambition to practice in the best clinical grounds drove him into this journey to the US. He worked in Texas as a volunteer at San Antonio refugee clinic and Texas Diabetes Institute. Dr. Al Gburi believes that internal medicine is the field that can provide him with a challenging environment and rich reservoir of knowledge, enthusiasm, and innovation. He believes in humanity and he is practicing medicine to serve it.
Outside work, he likes running in the trails, spending time with his family and friends. He is an artist, who likes sketching and painting, especially classical He is professional in sketching strong expressions of human faces and bodies. He listens to music, reads poetry, novels, stories. He is interested to pursue a fellowship in Cardiology, a lifesaving specialty, as he calls it.

Salman Bangash, MD

Salman Bangash was born in Chicago, USA. He obtained his medical degree from Shifa College of Medicine in Islamabad, Pakistan. Dr. Bangash aims to channel his passion in healthcare and intends to work for the community and its quality of health. He strongly believes in working for people is the best way to give back to   our society. Dr. Bangash plans on pursuing a fellowship in Infectious Diseases and has joined the UTRGV Internal Medicine Residency Program at DHR to initiate this journey.

Xavier Blanco, MD

Dr. Blanco was born and raised in the small town of Orocovis, in the beautiful Caribbean Island of Puerto Rico. He earned his B.A. in General Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico and worked in research for NASA on Wallops Flight Facility, Virginia. He then went to pursue his dream to become the first medical doctor in his family and moved to Guadalajara,   Mexico.
Finished his medical degree at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. After completing his medical degree, he moved to New Jersey for his pre-internship at different hospitals on the New Jersey/New York area. Dr. Blanco is passionate about sports medicine, gastroenterology and working with the underserved. Is a firm believer that besides treating the patients with the best medical care, love and compassion can make the ultimate difference. On his free time, he enjoys playing and watching sports, particularly baseball. He is eager to make Texas his forever home!

Steven Konstantin hails from Houston, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of St. Thomas and attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch located in Galveston, Texas. His professional interest is cardiology, but he is open to all avenues medicine. When not in the hospital, Steven enjoys spending time in the great outdoors going hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, travelling, rooting for the Houston Texans and Rockets, watching movies, and of course binging Netflix.

Daniela Hernandez, MD

Daniela was born in Houston, Tx but was raised in Monterrey, Mexico. She received her medical degree from the TEC de Monterrey. On her last year of medical school she did a rotation at Johns Hopkins and had the opportunity to stay there during her Social Service year. During that time she worked studying the bone marrow's microenvironment and new therapy approaches for leukemia. She then stayed to work there as a postdoctoral fellow collaborating in the development of new targeted therapies for leukemia. Daniela's loves running, swimming, watching movies and hanging out with friends. She is happy to keep pursuing her medical career close to her family.

Jarrad McAdams

Dr. Jarrad McAdams was born and raised in Corsicana, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Molecular Biology from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas and then pursued a Master of Science degree in Clinical Research Management at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. He obtained his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica. Dr. McAdams' professional interests include point of care ultrasound, hospitalist medicine, and quality improvement projects. His hobbies include strength and conditioning training, grilling on the barbecue, and football. He is humbled to be training at a hospital owned by physicians while serving the down to earth folks of Texas in the Rio Grande Valley.

Zahir Osuna, MD

Dr. Zahir Osuna was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico.  He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology from Bringham Young University Idaho.  He then received his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara.  After completing his clinical rotations in Scottsdale, AZ, Dr. Osuna trained at an internal medicine outpatient clinic until the start of his residency at the UTRGV Internal Medicaine Residency Program at DHR.  He is passionate about hospital medicine and enjoys working with underserved communities.  In his spare time, he likes spending time with his wife and kids, playing basketball and soccer.  He also loves playing his musical instruments, his favorites being tenor sax, drums and bass guitar.

Dr. Anoop Pasupuleti was raised in Geneva, Illinois. He attended Case Western Reserve University where he completed his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Rockford. His medical interests include primary care and hospital medicine.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys following Chicago sports teams, listening to music and playing video games.

I was born in Tampico, Mexico, a coastal town 6 hours from McAllen. At the age of 18, I found my passion for medicine and decided to enroll to study medicine in the Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas in Tampico. Following my late father's example, I decided I wanted to move from Mexico to further my ambition of becoming a great doctor and researcher. I moved to Houston in 2014 where I was exposed to the Texas medical center's cutting edge technology and knowledge. This is when I found I was interested in endocrinology and serving the underserved. I moved to Edinburg in order to accomplish this. I love a good conversation and soccer. I want to be an awesome doctor and someone who can help shape this world into a better place to live in.

Denisse Ramirez, MD

Dr. Denisse Ramirez was born and raised in Houston, TX. She received her Bachelor of Science in psychology with a minor in biology from The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Ramirez completed her medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies. During her clinical rotations, she worked closely with medically underserved communities in Dominica, Miami and Chicago where she discovered her interest in internal medicine. After medical school, her love for her home state brought her back to The Woodlands, TX where she worked in an infectious diseases clinic. Her professional interests include hospital medicine and infectious diseases. She loves spending her summers in Puebla, Mexico, where her family is from. She also enjoys great food, hiking, Latin dancing and spending time with her Labrador. Dr. Ramirez is enthusiastic to train in a facility with excellent mentors and innovative medicine in the Rio Grande Valley community.

Alexander Renpenning was born and raised in Chihuahua Mexico. He obtained his medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez in the year of 2013. He made one year of internship in Poliplaza Medica and one year of social service as a primary care physician in Ciudad Juarez Mexico. Dr. Renpenning has four years of experienced working as a primary care physician in Mexico. In his free time he enjoys hanging out with friends, playing billiards, working out, hiking and listening to rock music.

Cynthia Rivas, MD

Dr. Rivas was born and raised in Maracay, Venezuela. When she was 17 years old she decided to go to Mexico in the pursue of her medical degree. She graduated from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in 2015 and decided that she wanted to have   a top training in Internal Medicine and went up to Houston, Texas. While she was preparing for the USMLE exams she always continued to be in the health care system doing externships in cardiology, endocrinology and oncology, as well as volunteering in underserved community health program. Dr. Rivas interests are oncology and pulmonary medicine. She enjoys going to the beach, spending time with her family, and yoga.

Shaza Shamdeen, MD

Dr. Shamdeen was raised in Damascus, Syria. She completed her medical training at the University of Damascus, Syria. After graduating from medical school, she moved to Seattle with her husband. She worked on a couple of research projects with the University of Washington and did many clinical rotations in different clinics and hospitals in WA. Dr. Shamdeen always has the passion for serving the underserved communities. She volunteered in community health centers in rural areas in Syria and also volunteered to work at a free community clinic that is dedicated to providing medical care for uninsured and underserved populations in WA. She believes that serving the less fortunate people is more rewarding and gives her the opportunity to make a difference and give back to the community.
Her professional interest includes primary care and preventive medicine
Outside of medicine, she likes to spend her time with family and friends. She also enjoys hiking, photography and cooking.
She is honored to join the UTRGV Internal Medicine Residency at DHR and start her new journey in Rio Grande Valley.

Andres Suarez Parraga, MD

Dr. Suarez Parraga was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. Later, he moved to Merida city, also known as "the gentlemen city'; to obtain his medical degree at the Universidad de Los Andes. After medical school, he worked at the Military Hospital and Popular Clinics in Caracas, later as a GI assistant, when he decided to pursue the USMLE pathway. Before joining the UTRGV Internal Medicine Residency Program at DHR, he made several observerships, one externship, and worked for almost a year at the National Institutes of Health as a Research Fellow in the field of neuroendocrine tumors, specifically Pheochromocytoma and Paraganglioma. His professional interests include endocrinology, gastroenterology, and infectious diseases. Outside the work setting, he enjoys spending time with his fiancee, going to the gym, watching TV shows, and cooking Venezuelan fast food.

Arturo Suplee, MD

Dr. Arturo Suplee was born and forged under the heat of the desert of northwestern Mexico. He pursued his medical career at Universidad de Sonora, where he got involved in clinical and bench research as a medical student and continued to do so after graduation. During this time, he also worked as a health provider for underserved communities with emphasis in preventive medicine. Arturo strongly believes that patient education should be the focus point of patient care and he is excited to be part of the growing Rio Grande Valley community. His professional interests include hematology/oncology, hospital and academic medicine. In his spare time, Dr. Suplee is passionate about extreme adventures and practicing sports, especially triathlon and basketball. He also enjoys regional food, traveling and sharing a good bottle of wine with family and friends.

Krishna Suri, DO

Krishna Suri was born in India, but was raised in Texas for the majority of his life.  Before medical school he worked at Houston Methodist Research Institute formulating novel chemotherapy drug delivery systems.  He obtained his medical degree from Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  He is overjoyed to return to Texas and hopes to use this opportunity to develop new modalities for preventive medicine.
