Why UTRGV?
“The Valley area is remarkably like my hometown and this place holds a familiar culture, language, and cuisine. Being in the Valley would not only allow me to be closer to family but would also be a phenomenal place for a new surgeon starting their career. Because of the rapid growth it is undergoing, I hope to continue practicing ‘border medicine” here. I would love to continue practicing bariatrics in this region where there is a significant need for weight loss providers.”

Why UTRGV?
“I was initially attracted to UTRGV because of the patient population that it services. Harlingen is a small city with great weather where housing is very affordable. There is a great deal to do given the proximity to South Padres Island and it also happens to be close to home for me. The RGV is a great place to start a family and is a prime location for your physicians to enter the job market.”

Why UTRGV?
“I chose to come to the RGV for medical because I appreciate that this busy border region faced unique issues the no other region in the United State faces. I have a background in international development, and I decided to stay here to do my training in surgery. This program affords you many opportunities for leadership roles at every level of development. You may find yourself leading a one-of-a-kind project that can make an enormous difference in this community. I also stayed for the food. The tacos are great!”
