Dr. Hafizur Rahman is an Assistant Professor in the School of Podiatric Medicine at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). Before joining UTRGV, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Biomechanics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and M.S. in Ocean and Mechanical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Rahman is the director and Principal Investigator of the Applied Biomechanics of the Lower Extremity (ABLE) laboratory. His research aims to improve mobility, functional independence, walking performance, and quality of life in patients with foot and ankle deformities, using advanced gait biomechanical analysis, finite element modeling, musculoskeletal modeling and simulation, and variability analysis.
His current research is supported by the University of Texas Rising STARs grant, UTRGV Faculty Seed Research grant, and UTRGV Start-up grant. Previously, he received several grants as PI, including VA SPiRE grant, NASA Nebraska Space Mini grant, and a University of Nebraska Research Collaboration Initiative grant.
