UTRGV School of Podiatric Medicine applicants are required to submit their application to the Texas Medical & Dental Schools Applications Service (TMDSAS) in accordance with TMDSAS procedures. The deadline for Entry Year 2024 is March 28, 2024 for new application through TMDSAS. You may only apply to the UTRGV SOPM for any new applications.  If you have submitted a TMDSAS application for 2024-2025 school year for medical school, you can add in UTRGV School of Podiatric Medicine as an option by March 28, 2024. Detailed information about the application process may be found on the TMDSAS website www.TMDSAS.com. Each applicant will be required to complete a secondary application designed to evaluate their interest in podiatric medicine.

Recruitment

The SOPM’s recruitment of students is one of the most important objectives for the success of our school. Our team of staff members travels throughout Texas and beyond to recruit high-achieving applicants who are passionate about pursuing a doctorate in podiatric medicine. Members of our admissions team participate in the Fall Texas Swing and Southern Swing to recruit talented applicants through graduate fairs, health profession fairs, and high school. Recruitment of applicants continues throughout the year as opportunities arise for our institution to participate in outside functions. 

Admissions

The Office of SOPM Admissions is responsible for the recruitment of prospective candidates for the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine program. As the first point of contact for prospective applicants, the Office of Admission provides all-around guidance to the admission process and if selected, up to the point of matriculation. Prospective applicants undergo a holistic approach involving initial screening, open/blind interviews, and a presentation of a final review for the suitable candidates to the SOPM Admissions Committee. The Office of Admission works synonymously with the SOPM Financial Aid Office, SOPM Registrar's Office and the SOPM Student Affairs Department to provide the best service and options to our prospective and matriculated applicants.
